I’m not quite sure…. What to make of Lamplighter. We came in on a Sunday afternoon just after they opened and we were going to have lunch as we had a Valpak coupon.Well, the kitchen was not open even though the bar was. Hmmm. The place looks better from the outside than from within. It kind of looked like a scraggly dive bar from the looks of the inside but it looks a lot classier when you view it from the street.We didn’t stay. Since they weren’t able to serve us food we went somewhere else for lunch.Definitely a disappointment.
Good Happy Hour Burger. I wasn’t particularly fond of Sweet Lous, The Lamplighter is a definite improvement. I had the Monday special, half price pub burger with fries, which puts it at $4, and would be construed as a good deal anywhere. I wasn’t expecting much for the price, but I got a nicely grilled brioche bun, fully chewable meat, with a nice side if Ok fries. Oddly, onions were not included with the burger, but the server was prompt in bringing them at my request.
