Dennys = Yannis. I felt like we were having Dennys version of Greek food. We left with full plates on the table. Not good.

I hadn’t been to Yannis for 20 years, and was pleasantly surprised at how they have updated and improved. I was prepared for slow but the staff was attentive and food came out quickly. Many nice Greek wines to choose from. Excellent moussaka hummus and the fresh halibut was excellent. Better than a lot of food I had in Greece last fall. Strongly recommend

My wife and I came from bremerton to try Yanni’s before a mariner’s game. We were greeted by a very friendly 4 yr old. She was sweet. Our server, Terry (if i’m not mistaken), was great and Seemed happy to talk with us and answer questions. We ordered the chipotle red pepper humus. It was wonderful and came with delicious bread. We ordered lamb skewers and lamb shank. Both were delicious. With a soda and average tip it was only $50, i’ve paid more in the past at other restaurants for very disappointing meals. So the price is right. Overall Yanni’s was great. We are looking forward to our next visit already.

Oh and the menu listed here doesn’t reflect Yanni’a old or new….not sure what that is about.20 Dec, 2012I thought I’d write a review post-Gordon Ramsay’s influence. I was worried about the changes, but it ended up being OK. Most importantly, the Greek Tale Martini survived the menu purge! There was definitely a huge emphasis on speeding up the service, but it was still relaxed and not rushed, which was nice. The menu is down to one page (but they hinted certain favorites may be able to return down the road). The plating was updated but still casual, family food. In short, all the comforting food and family members but with prompt service and a simpler menu. Phew!

Greek Delights you will remember!. I’m not kidding about the title. My family and I returned to Yanni’s, after not eating here for a few years. I still remembered the delicious dinner I had a few years ago, and was hoping to have a repeat. Alas, the braised lamb dish and wine I remember were not on the list. However, we ordered the hummus – wow, the best hummus in town. They definitely make it here, and is not to be missed. I ordered the beef katsarolas which was just as delicious as the lamb dish from years before. My kids had the gyro, pastitsio (very kid friendly), my husband a pork loin special. The dinner did take some time to get there, but worth the wait. I do think the restaurant is more like a European restaurant where the diners linger. I don’t remember the name of the wine my husband and I ordered this visit, but it was a Greek blend with Cretan grapes. Very low tannins, and my husband, not a red wine drinker, loved it. I liked it, but the last time I was at Yanni’s I drank a Boutari red that was one of the two best wines I’ve ever tasted. I think I would go in that direction again.

I was sooo hungry!. ……………………….and the service was so slow. When I try Yanni’s again, which i will. I’ll make sure to have a snack before I go. The food? I’m not sure, I wolfed it down due to my hunger …and I don’t remember because I filled my empty gullet with vino while i waited. I plan to return though because I love Greek foods and I’d love to give a better review.
