Decent place. Perhaps a little too quiet and somber for me when we went, but the food more than made up for it. Their menu is definitely a mix of Asian fare, with Japanese, Korean, and a few typical Chinese dishes thrown in for good measure. Judging how they did with Korean, I would have no problem trying their other styles of cuisine. They did have Ja Ja Myun (black bean paste over noodle), which was a favorite of mine the year I spent in Korea, and something I rarely see on other menus around town. It’s considered the national ‘peasant’ dish on the Peninsula, and I was once told by a nice, old Agima over there that it could be likened to our mac & cheese in Western culture. It was delicious and filling. The Bulgogi here was excellent, and both my wife and I very much liked the use of mushrooms in it. Ban Chan accompaniments were fresh and flavorful. Our server was very sweet. Not the most attentive, but we were in no rush, so that wasn’t an issue. Pipe in a little ambient, Asian background music, and I’d have no problem trying more things on the menu here…
Good sushi. I was surprised that the cheaper rolls (in the $8 range) were equal, if not better, to the more expensive rolls on the menu. The restaurant was terribly understaffed but i did not mind this at all. Good food, good price.
