A gem in my neighborhood.. A friend and I stopped to try this place out and I couldn’t be more thrilled that we did. I got the fried rice dish, came with shrimp, beautiful chunks of seasoned pork, crisp bean sprouts, both green and regular onion, and to top it off was a few sprigs of fresh cilantro. The rice itself was seasoned with care, so flavorful I didn’t even dare to touch to it with any sauces. My friend had Pho Ga (Chicken Pho), like most places it came with a fresh sides of jalapeno, lemon grass, and a mountain of bean sprouts. It looked delicious and after stealing a spoonful of the broth, I was begging for winter to come quickly so I could possibly have that dish over and over. The staff were friendly, never hovered, and just aided in the wonderful experience. So please, don’t let the location deter you, the food here is absolutely wonderful. Please come try them out.
Delicious Non-Deli…. Ladies and gents, this ‘deli’ is a Vietnamese restaurant. And an absolutely fabulous one, too. Despite the name, I get to enjoy another incredibly fresh place in a town full of excellent Vietnamese joints. Very nice, hard working family. We’re talking three generations helping out. But lordy, it’s a tough area to have success–right by SCC–and kinda hidden from street view. We went pho/soup and everything was great. Their spring rolls have the best, home style roast pork I’ve experienced in town, and their egg rolls (more like lumpia–filipino style) had an interesting addition of mushrooms that was very savory. The interior belies the rough exterior, with a very nice dining area, and everything is clean and new. I’m rooting for these guys, and I hope the businesses around them realize they have some of the best Viet-fare in town right here. You can have a nice sit-down, and forget you’re right off Mission…
