We did not have reservations early on a Friday night, but were fortunate to be immediately seated at a table for 2 next to a window. A Caesar salad was shared that the kitchen separated for us. The ingredients were fresh, but the dressing was devoid of the bite one gets when anchovies are used. Coupeville is famous for its Penn Cove mussels so my wife chose mussels Rockefeller (spinach, bacon, Pernod, shallots, garlic, and cream) as an entree. I went with Angry mussels (chorizo sausage, red wine, shallots, garlic, lemon, cilantro, and chili oil). The mussels were on the small size and I felt the chorizo and red wine in my dish overwhelmed their delicate flavor. It is not one I would reorder.
FSG – one of our favorites. The cold-smoked salmon BLT is delicious, as well as the fried oyster BLT (though I wish they’d trade the salmon bun for the bread used with the fried oyster BLT, I don’t know why that irks me but it seems too sandwich-y-burger-ish. A BLT should have sliced bread, in my humble opinion). The saffron-cream mussels are a perennial favorite, ask for extra bread – that sauce is NOT to be squandered! They serve a very green-young tasting wine from the Columbia Valley that makes the seafood dishes pop. Very casual atmosphere – we take our wee ones and enjoy the view a couple times a month. As in any small town, the servers are young and it can get busy so a little patience is in order, but they are always polite and attentive, even when we showed up on a trip back from the garden nursery (not dressed in our finest, to be sure). Not a fan of the prime rib (it needs a little more low-roasting to render a little more fat, yet retain the redness, also a garlic pepper rub, something?) and not a fan of the crab cakes, which should be fantastic. Those are two off the top of my head that I avoid. Overall, though, one of our favorites.

The apps are great. Whether you order the oysters, the crab cakes, the mussels, or the beef bites, you will be very happy with the appetizers. I often go in just for apps and wine. The view is the nicest in town, and it is a good place for a romantic dinner.
The location is great. They are trying to hard to be fancy. The fries are oversalted… The basic burger is 12.00 fives guys burger is much better at half the price. Its was overall OK.
Finally, a restaurant that know how to cook a rare steak correctly. Even with my temporary disabled left hand which make it difficult to cut, the steak was tendered and cooked perfect. Mashed potato was a bit boring, but I mixed it with the crab and steak juices, then the problem was solved. The steamed mussel were cooked just right, although I wasn’t a fan of the Thai Green Curry flavor we decided to try. My date liked it just fine, but I’m Thai, so I’m picky. We will go the traditional white wine route next time. The service was amazing and the view was phenomenal.
We will be back!. My husband and i went in for a late afternoon lunch. We were surprised at how busy the small town restaurant was for a winter day. The staff were all very friendly and efficient for how busy they were. All of our food was delicious from appetizers to dessert and we will go out of our way to be back.
