Tasty breakfast, friendly morning waitress. We spent the night in the motel (clean and inexpensive) and wanted a solid morning meal before a day of exploring Whidbey further. The difference between the evening atmosphere, when we checked in at the bar, and the morning is literally night and day. Definitely a place frequented more by locals than tourists in either case. Very good coffee to start, and the corned beef hash, two eggs over easy ( perfect) were excellent with a generous helping of hashbrowns. My companion ordered eggs Benedict, which was ample but the hollandaise tasted out of a packet. The sausage gravy needs more meat and black pepper. Nevertheless, mission accomplished. We both agreed is was a decent, clean place with good service.
Go here because it is expected of me. I have been eating here for over 20 years. This place is for local folk and the people who want convince from their dated motel rooms. This place has improved in some aspects but goes down in others. For example. I usually order the seafood Caesar Salad. At one time it was made with lump dungeness crab now it is not and it is shredded crab. it was also loaded with shrmp. Now you still get shrimp just much less and smaller. The place could use some sprucing up as well. But like I said I only go there because it is expected of me when I go up to Coupeville.

Luckily, this daddy is prepared for such inconveniences, so I brought a box of Crayolas and a pad of paper. The waitress immediately came over and told us that we should be careful that he doesn’t color on the table. UMMMMMM…..WTF??! They are crayons. A little windex and it’s gone…the food was overpriced and undercooked. The drinks were watery at best. This place has the feel of a joint that locals go to for better service than the average person would get. No thanks, Tyee. Not until you improve your service and food by leaps and bounds.
