Good, but not mind blowing. I ordered the carne asada tacos and a carnitas taco, and everything was satisfying. I’ve just had some really good Mexican lately, and this wasn’t at the same level.
Highly recommend the bacon breakfast burrito. Lots of bacon.
We Will Be Baaaack! Ummm…Now I’m Not So Sure We Will Ever Go Back.. UPDATE: My husband and I have been dining at Julianito’s for a couple of years now and for the past 6 months or so, it has really been hit or miss. I was really feeling Mexican the other night so I had my boy pick Julianito’s up on the way home from work. We could not have been more disappointed. I ordered a taco salad with chicken meat and he ordered the carne asada quesadilla. My first complaint was that my taco salad was lacking a major ingredient – lettuce. Seriously. There was maybe six little strips of lettuce and the rest was greasy, flavorless chicken. Second, the beef in the quesadilla was cooked to the point where it was no longer edible. It looked like little bits of charcoal. in addition, the tortillas in the quesadilla were extremely greasy and rubbery. When I went to toss the bag that the foo cartons came in, I found that the bottom was full of grease. Just for a laugh, I plopped it o a kitchen scale before tossing it and it weighed in at 6.3 oz. EEW.We’ve had experiences at Julianito’s that were great and we have had some that were not so great. This last meal from there was, by far, the worst. If it had been our meal from there, we would never return. After the other night, I am pretty sure that it will be a good long time before we chance going back.Sorry, Julianito’s, you dropped the ball.-Original Review below.-So good! My husband, who despises anything containing beans, went with the Carne Asada Burrito and loved it. He felt that it was very flavorful and at $5.95, it was a generous portion. I went with the Chicken Chimichanga. Wow! Best I have ever had. The chicken was moist and flavorful. Im not sure if they make their guacamole in house or not but it was amazing. Normally, Im not a fan of guac but the flavor of this was not overpowering and did not have any of those grassy undertones that guacamole often does. Neither my chimmy nor my husbands burrito had any rice or bean fillers. They were both all meat.
Carne asada burrito. This is the real McCoy.. The Carne Asada Burrito that made Roberto’s and all of their sibling restaurants famous.. Made with marinated beef using the original recipe and flour tortillas shipped in from San Diego.. I believe it.. Lord knows I ate enough of them in the 70s and 80’s in LaJolla. This is it.And this is no ‘Mission Style’ rip off burrito.. Pure carne Asada.. not a bunch of filler rice and beans.. just sizzling, juicy marinated beef. One is a meal.. Two and they’ll have to roll you out and change your name to Gordo..If you dig good Carne Asada, chow down and enjoy!10 May, 2011There IS a God !. It’s been 18 years since I moved north from California.. and not a day has passed that I haven’t missed the delicious juicy burritos I grew up on in Southern Cal.. but that’s a thing of the past now.The very same family that brought you the legendary Roberto’s/Alberto’s Mexican Food Take Outs in and around San Diego has now expanded into Washington, in Kent and Federal Way.This is no cut rate, nearly as good, knock off of Roberto’s.. This is the REAL DEAL.. The same juicy, delicious Carne Asada and rolled tacos smothered in Guac that have drawn surfers and all night partiers from Chula Vista to Del Mar and beyond to chow down at 3 a.m. Plus this place is clean and reasonably priced.. If you’re from California (you know who you are) try this place for a little slice of home.. If you’re not, try this place to see what you’ve been missing all your life.Delicious! As Charlie would say.. A WINNER!!!
