Warm and Woodsy. The manager of the B&B at which we were staying while in the gorge area, suggested this place when we asked for a place with a hearty meat n potatoes type breakfast. First, this place could be the one that the chain of Black Beat Diners was modeled upon. At least, the decor there was less kitsch and more regional. The posts on the front porch were carved to include bears. This is true of a few spots indoors, as well. The place is made from logs and has a delightfully rustic appearance. Table tops were made from large cross-section slabs of tree trunk, and the table legs were made from tree limbs. There is a bar for food and another for drink, a dance floor, and a separate room for large dinner gatherings. The corned beef hash was good enough to bring us back for breakfast the next day. Prices were moderate. On Monday we were in the mood for less food and it was not a problem for the kitchen to split one breakfast between two plates. The chef and wait staff were personable and efficient, the decor charming, the food was and we plan to go back for lunch and/or dinner. The gorge is such a picturesque place, and the little bergs sprinkled through out the area are nice, too! There was a sign by the road stating that they were just returning to business… don’t know how why or how long, but if perchance it is new ownership or management, it may be worth a re-try if you’re a local.
