I remember this place as a child and the food was better. The food isn’t terrible but it isn’t great. The customer service is nice and the atmosphere has a nice appeal especially in the evening!
Very uninspiring. Leavenworth is so cute with all its Bavarian charm, but this place was lackluster. I’m vegetarian and they had only one dish for me – pasta with tomato sauce. My husband’s schnitzel was so-so except they didn’t bring what he ordered. The atmosphere is nice with exposed brick walls and beamed ceilings. However, we went on a Friday night, when they have live music. I expected something remotely German, but the singer/guitarist played Cat Stevens, Rolling Stones, and Gordon Lightfoot. The music not only didn’t help the theme of the restaurant, it detracted from it. I don’t plan to eat here again.
FOOD IS AWFUL! We all had sandwiches, of the 6 of us only one plate had warm food. Meat was fatty and gross. Extremely over priced. Waitress was nice but not worth it at all. Wish I read reviews before going there.
Don’t waste your money – terrible. Unless your starving and about to die don’t eat here. Brought my wife and kids and the food was very poor and the service was worse. Also did i mention there is only one restroom that has a line up and it not only smells but is also very dirty
ORdered the jger schnitzel and the baren haus burger that came with curly fries, a little dry, not very good. The pork of the shnitzel was done well but a little bland. The side slaw and kraut was ok. porkninjas.ca
Best german food and atmosphere yet.. Situated in a big brick building with a stained glass bear above the door, Baren Haus feels downright kingly. Flags hang from the thick rafters, the stout wooden tables and benches feel worn and loved and stately. The people here really care about your experience, the lady at the desk not only offered kids menus and crayons but took an artistic eye and chatted up the kids about their use of color in their work. The waitresses likewise were professional, almost gushingly friendly and spot on with their timing. The food was amazingly good–especially the rouladen (big rolled up slices of roasted marinated beef stuffed with a tart minced vegetable filling)–so good, and huge like crazy. Having been dissapointed by other spots along the dining strip of Leavenworth it’s really great to find one that isn’t just good, but a favorite–a real treasure!
Food was just o.k. Waitress was very pleasant.
