Easily the worst schnitzel we’ve had. The veal looks suspiciously white like pork, whiter than milk-fed veal. It smelled and tasted like pork. It was re-fried. The sptzle was dried up and old. It was a hot day, the tables by the windows upstairs felt like a solarium.
We were there for lunch yesterday and I was disappointed by the food. I ordered the Sauerbraten and it was not similar at all from what I got in Germany. We also ordered the Wiener Schnitzel and the Spicy Beef Goulash and both were pretty bland. The food we ordered doesn’t really stands up and definitely not a place I will go back again.
A great place! Authentic, delicious German food; this is a nice restaurant to go to. Pretty waitresses, too. It lost a mark, though, because it most certainly is not wheelchair accessible, being up a flight of stairs. Even the restaurant personnel don’t seem to have an elevator, for I heard them hauling beer kegs up the back stairs.
Wonderful lunch. Honestly, Im a little hesitant to have German food in Leavenworth WA. This sounds very counterintuitive. The reason is that the whole Bavarian theme of the town can get overblown. Not everything with a German theme, in Leavenworth, is anywhere close to being authentic. Take, for example, the multitude of shops with tacky, German themed souvenirs made in Asia. The food at the Bavarian Bistro was very good. My chicken cutlet with mustard sauce was yummy. My husbands beef was delicious, as well. Nice seasoning touches like cinnamon in the red cabbage and sauerkraut with caraway seed made for unique dinner. Nothing was greasy. The portions were ample but not huge. The prices were reasonable for the quality and quantity. Our service was nice and polite. The interior definitely reflects the Bavarian theme of the eatery and town. The view across the street is inviting and cozy. We would definitely eat at Bavarian Bistro and Bar again.
Very good place for German style food and a few new dishes to try. The establishment was laid back and very welcoming. The staff was superb, even making my husband a lunch item during late dinner. Very hospitable and well recieved.10 Mar, 2015Jager Schnitzel. Very good! Potatoes were cooked well and seasoned phenomenally. The red cabbage was delicious. And the meat and sauce were fantastic.10 Mar, 2015The Monte. This is a breakfast sandwich type of meal. Imagine French toast with cheese and meats topped with powdered sugar. It all works together for a delicious pairing of flavors.
Best German cabbage I’ve ever had. We also had Gilroy: blue cheese on crostini with roasted garlic that was fabulous. The spatzel was okay but not fabulous. Hubby’s sausages, kraut and German Potato salad were awesome too.
Wiener Schnitzel. In Germany chief would be killed for that Schnitzel size. Price: $14
