You can’t believe all the variety. We always load up on way to our favorite B&B. So we have plenty of goodies to snack on. Then another stop on the way home to load up on their speciality breads & rolls. Love this bakery. For years we had gone to their original bakery on Icicle road. Made a trip out their afew years ago & it was closed. Drove back to chamber office in town & asked what happened to Home Fires. Told us where they had moved to & drove to it. We had gone past it on way to Leavenworth & had been looking at scenery. So thankful they hadn’t closed.
Great surprise in the back of the food market. I have heard some wonderful things about Home Fires Bakery from co-workers. I finally made a trip up to Leavenworth & had to stop by to try it out. The owner was very nice and was very accomidating when we told her that it was our first visit. She let us sample a whole almond roll (puff pastry with almond paste rolled into a cinnamon roll shape). It was fluffy and has great texture. After that sample we were hooked and had to try a variety of items. We took a mini chocolate pie, a hazelnut-chocolate croissant, a chocolate chip cookie, and a carrot cake cup cake. The chocolate pie was one of the best I have had with a crumbly crust, thick layer of chocolate, and finished with chocolate shaved whipped cream. The hazelnut-chocolate croissant was filled with chocolate and had a great balance between the dough & filling. The chocolate chip cookie was good and soft. The carrot cake cupcake was large, moist, and topped with a wonderful cream cheese frosting. Whenever I need a bakery fix and can make it up to Leavenworth, I will be stopping by Home Fires Bakery.
