  Prices exceed chocolate’s quality. On a positive note, the dessert sauces we sampled in the shop were excellent. Everything in the store is expensive. Its Leavenworth and shop keepers must depend on tourists. Small shops in small towns generally have higher prices than large stores in metropolitan areas. High prices in Leavenworth are common.Friends bought a number of chocolates, at Scholat, on the way to a weekend in Oak Harbor. I thought the quality of the chocolates, themselves, wasnt up to par with the prices. This is after figuring in extra money for being a shop in Leavenworth. I cant say Scholats chocolates were bad. They were good, just not excellent. Their dessert sauces are far superior to their candies.I like Sees Candies and various chocolates at World Market better. Both retailers have lower prices than Schocolat. But again, Sees Candies and World Market are large retailers and can take advantage of economies of scale.Before readers jump to the conclusion that I didnt like Scholats chocolates because Im cheap think again. I love great food and drink! I will pay top dollar for something that is truly outstanding. Years ago, there was a grandfather clock shop in Leavenworth. It had a candy counter with small $3.00+ (each) truffles flown in from Switzerland. Those truffles were heavenly and I wouldnt have batted an eye to buy a dozen of them. The chocolate taste lingered for nearly an hour after taking the smallest bite. Scholats chocolates didnt come close.

  The chocolates here are amazing! They’re made fresh daily and you can taste the difference. Absolutely phenomenal!
