This is hands down one of the best places to eat in town due to both the food and the environment. I took my wife there on a Friday evening and we were blown away by this place and the music. This restaurant is right above a deli, so if you show up to an empty downstairs area don’t be thrown off, enter through the doors and go upstairs to the bistro. The downstairs is a deli. The bistro has great live music, the guy who is there Fridays is great.
Nice Little Surprise. We were beginning an anniversary trip (or Third Honeymoon, as we have been referring to it) in Longview for a kayaking trip. We arrived the day before the trip, on our actual anniversary, and wanted to have a nice dinner. We’re serious foodies, and finding somewhere in Longview/Kelso that wasn’t a chain restaurant was a bit of a challenge! The first thing you need to know is that there is no signage – by day this restaurant is The Country Folks Deli. Still a lovely place to eat, I’ve heard from relatives who live in the area. However, beginning at 5 pm, the upstairs of this quaint old building, nicely refurbished, is The Bistro. Our server was Trina, who is also the manager, and she was quite personable and delightful. We had two very interesting cocktails – a Watermelon Mojito and a ‘martini’ made with Whipped Cream flavored vodka – it tasted quite a bit like a grownup Orange Julius! Both were nice treats on a warm, if overcast, evening. We arrived in time for Happy Hour, with is 5 to 7, and ordered two items. The Gorgonzola Fries were heavy and greasy and although delicious I cut my husband off at four and had them removed – lol! The TK’s Iceberg Wedge with a bacon bleu cheese dressing ($2 at Happy Hour!) was much better. Nice big chunks of bleu cheese and fresh, crisp lettuce. My husband had the Flatiron Steak with a twice-baked potato salad served hot and saffron aoli, served with green beans. I had the Scallops, which on the menu were listed as Big Ass Scallops, and substituted green beans for the potatoes. Both meals were plated very nicely, and the twice-baked potato salad was sinfully delicious. The saffron aoli was very nice and an elegant touch. In addition, since we were there on a Friday, there was live music – a very pleasant guitarist/singer, and we had a VERY nice Spanish Tempranillo with our dinner.Overall, a lovely meal, very pleasant ambiance, and a total gem in a place where the next runner-up is a Red Lobster.
