Outstanding. If you’re willing to splurge, you won’t be disappointed by the Bay Caf. The views, the food, the wine, the desserts – all spectacular. The service was great also (suspect it was the owner & his wife?). Our group of six had salmon, prawns, pizza, clams, heirloom tomato salads, wedge salad, a to-die-for Bailey’s cheesecake, lemon sorbet (?) w/shortbread cookie, Marion cake w/berries….. all totally yummy. Definitely a (significantly) higher price point than other Lopez eateries but well worth it.
Make the trip!. While vacationing on San Juan Island we made a day out of navigating the ferry schedules and bicycling around Lopez Island (loved Spencer Spit). The highlight and destination of our journey was Bay Cafe. The views were stunning, the service impeccable and the food was delightful. We sat outside to take it all in. The highlight dish was the crab cakes which was chock full of crab meat. The place was hoppin’ on a Wednesday evening.
You really need to eat @ The Bay! Tim Shea has done a great job bringing the local goods to the table. We really enjoyed the local wine as well! We will return! We only wish we could take your fine food and great service back to Chapel Hill, NC.
