Cafe Rio is delicious. I have been an at least a once a week customer basically since they opened this location a year ago. Today I ordered my normal vegetarian salad and the girl helping me said she couldn’t put the guacamole on it because the guacamole only came with the vegetarian burrito. The sign clearly says that the vegetarian options come with guacamole. No one has ever told me this before always adding the guac with no questions. I told her that I always get it that way and she rudely told me to take it up with corporate. Her rudeness has lost them a loyal customer and I will no longer reccomend cafe rio to friends.
My friend brought me here for $5 Tuesday with our infants. At first I was pleased because this seemed like a family friendly place, kids and strollers everywhere. We sat in the very far back corner of the restaurant so I can nurse my baby (with a nursing cover, of course). I sat far back against the wall next to the trash can with my stroller in front of me. This buslady walks by and pushes my stroller towards me while I was feeding my baby and empties the trash can next to me. She didn’t acknowledge me or look at me or say excuse me. I thought that was rude. Then she walks by the table across from us and asks them how they’re doing. A few minutes later she comes back and tells my friend to move my stroller out of the way because it was blocking the exit. It was definitely not blocking the exit. People were easily able to come and go through that door with no problem. So I asked her where she would like me to move my stroller as we were already pretty much out of the way with nowhere else to go. She would not look at me and just continued to tell my friend to just move the stroller out of the way. I don’t get it. I felt very unwelcome considering this place was littered with strollers everywhere. I felt like I was being singled out. My friend just laughed because she couldn’t believe what just happened. I will not be coming back.
$5 Tuesday draws me to the rio and though it creates long lines and stressed out employees, Cafe Rio has once again rewarded me with a delicious meat tray that was called a salad while playing a delightful mix of Tears For Fears, Elton and 90’s pop. Coupled with bottomless Horchata and walker is a happy, albeit bloated boy.
