French Toast is a rip off!. Ordered French Toast this morning, served quickly. Only two small slices of french bread which had not been soaked in egg, it tasted as though it was deep fried. It had a bit of powdered sugar tossed on the top (looked like it was just dumped on top with a spoon, not sifted lightly as is customary) so not very appealing. The server had advised me that the meal came with fruit. It did, but only 3 very thinly sliced pineapple pieces. I had also asked the server for a side of potato’s which never arrived. Upon my payment I had decided I would not make any comment if my order were less than $8.00 which I still thought to be over priced for this item. I was charged $9.95 for two pieces of fried french bread. I told the cashier/owner that I felt my meal was overpriced and of poor quality. She stated this is Seattle and her restaurant is the best price in town and that I was to picky as she frequently receives compliments on this dish. I am sorry, but my experience with this restaurant was unsatisfactory. I will not be coming back nor will I recommend this restaurant to friends.
Cafe Soleil is the best Ethiopian restaurant in Seattle. The service is also great.
Best Ethiopian Food in Seattle. Cafe Soleil is delicious. I have taken dozens of people to Cafe Soleil over the years and every single one has fallen in love with it. I have out-of-state family and friends who insist on eating there while visiting me in Seattle. It reminds me of a European-style, neighborhood cafe. Brunches are also delicious. The owner works very hard and has a great sense of hospitality and community.
Really yummy food with a cozy intimate environment!
Brunch at Soleil…Ahhhh!. We go to Cafe Soleil for brunch quite regularly. It provides a nice mellow contrast to the hustle and bustle of crowds at Hi-Spot and St Clouds. The food is very, very good. At brunch, they offer mainstream American fare; some dishes have a bit of an Ethiopian twist. Kuri, the owner, is a sweetheart. When it gets busy, things can be a bit slow but that doesn’t stop us because it really is a comfortable place to hang out on lazy Sunday mornings.
My favorite on the Madrona brunch crawl. This has become our favorite place to have weekend brunch. It must be catching on though because, until lately, it has usually been pretty quite, which has been nice. It always amuses me to see people gawk as they pass the windows, on their way to stand in line at either the over-rated and noisy Hi-Spot, or the very good and noisy St. Clouds, while I’m already enjoying my salmon scramble, or basil, tomato, parmesan fritatta. The food is always good, the staff either sweet and spacey, or sweet and efficient, and the owner / cook is always welcoming. As an added bonus, you get a Hershey’s kiss with your check. What’s not to like?
My favorite breakfast place!. Excellent toast. Try the smoked salmon scramble. The owner is very gracious. Really nice, casual atmosphere.
