Disappointing service; okay food. We went to St. Clouds for my birthday. We sat on the back patio which was fine – it was a nice night. The service was SLOW. Everything from being greeted by the server to getting drinks and food took forever. Sodas we’re never refilled; water glasses were refilled once. The food was okay, but not spectacular. Wouldn’t go back, which is unfortunate because I had high hopes.

We had brunch there for the first time today. Everything was wonderful! I had the tofu scramble and the mr had chicken fried steak. I loved my meal as well as his fried goodness. Cooked to perfection! Topping the meal with their delicious sour cream coffee cake. Only regret is not getting a piece to go! That good, folks. Great and cozy atmosphere. Service was a tad slow but nothing to complain about as the waitress was quite friendly. If you don’t try this place you’re missing out.

Shouting: it’s the new talking. We had a wonderful Valentines Day experience at St. Clouds several years ago and the place has been high on the list of places to return. Tonight was the night, so we made a reservation and were looking forward to a nice, intimate, and romantic dinner. Wow, did we make the wrong choice of venue! We arrived a bit early and were promptly seated at a table for 2 near the kitchen, a very nice spot in the small dining room. Upon entering the dining room we immediately noticed that the noise level was pretty high but though we would get used to it once we were seated. Unfortunately, that was not the case. The noise continued to build. The wait staff had to speak pretty loudly to be heard and our conversation during the meal was minimal because it was so difficult to hear each other. I don’t know if the restaurant is normally like this or if it was just an unfortunate collection of loud people choosing to dine here at the same time but I would hesitate eating at St. Clouds again due to the amount of noise. I actually installed a decibel meter on my iPhone during the meal the readings ranged between 92 and 100dB. (90 – 95dB is the level at which sustained exposure may result in hearing loss, a subway train at 200′ is listed at 95dB.)The food and wine were quite good. The Fall Salad was a very pleasing combination of greens, fruit, and nuts with a citrus dressing and an excellent start to the meal. The Pork Loin special, a nicely cooked loin topped with a Champagne Vinaigrette and accompanied by a very light and tasty spaghetti squash cake and some simple and delicious golden beets, was a wonderful plate for a chilly Fall evening. It was a shame that the ambient noise prompted us to rush through the meal so we could get to a more tolerable sound level.Nice menu, attentive service, good food, but bring your ear plugs!

One of my favs. This is a great neighborhood restaurant with both excellent creative and comfort food, good wines, and good music. The community feel and orienation is a highlight. Some of the really fine menu items are:Caramelized Onion/Grilled Pears and Goat Cheese Bruschetta Coconut-Bathed Fresh Local Mussels – in a savory broth with basil, ginger & shallots, with tasty grilled Columbia City Bakery bread.Autumn Vegetable Pasta – roasted butternut squash and greens in a savory mushroom-butter sauce. Finished with asiago cheese, walnuts and grilled Columbia City Bakery bread. Curry Roasted Yam and Sweet Potato Saute on Chickpea Cakes

Found this joint once again spooning. What a fantastic find! Great neighborhood vibe, excellent service, almost to the point of over attentive, they checked to make sure my coffee was full a dozen times. I had the special, home made chorizo con huevos, hash browns and home made coffee cake with OJ. The chorizo was really good, a little heavy on the cloves. Hash browns were perfectly crispy and I didn’t even ask for it. The coffee cake was splendid. The OJ was rough but that was because I had just brushed my teeth. Coffee was great, not to heavy, just right. My table mates also enjoyed their meals. I’m glad I didn’t choose the Benedict I’m a purist, it looked like to much of twist was put on it, cubed ham, spicy hollandaise on some kind of thick bread. Anyway, I look forward to another visit when up Seattle way. Good job Spooners for picking this one.

Not impressive. I came here for my Birthday, even though I’d never heard of it because it got an 87% on here. First of all I rarely complain. To begin with, it had a nice ambiance, but the hostess was rude about finding a table large enough, even though I had called and made a reservation for that #. Then the food was over priced and not good (except the fries). The server was really nice, but rarely checked on us. It was also almost entirely middle aged people in the restaurant (no offense) but it felt weird and I would never go back. I was embararrased that I had brought my friends there.

Great service and ambience. Nice, quiet neighborhood secret. I love the way it was tucked away. The food was good, and it was an enjoyable experience. Great menu variety.
