A Good Choice. Max Dales is a throwback to a different era in restaurant styles. It looks like a place from the 70s or 80s, but its well maintained and serves up food that is quite good for the genre. Were talking steak, prime rib, pork, lamb and fish, all cooked in a straightforward American style. They do it very well. We started with the crab cake appetizer. It was excellent. It had some spicy kick to it, possibly diced red jalapenos, and was served with an aioli sauce which was quite good. My wife had the prime rib. Cooked medium rare, it was perfect. The only problem with it was that the smallest cut they sell is 10 oz., which is about 5 oz. more than she can eat. On the other hand, were going to have some great steak sandwiches tomorrow with the leftovers. Her sides were the same as mine, a baked potato and string beans. Both sides were excellent. I especially appreciated the green beans, which were cooked perfectly. I had the blackened salmon with a cilantro/lime crme frache sauce. I thought the salmon was good, but unlike the crab cakes, this dish was a little under spiced, at least for a blackened dish. All of the entres come with soup or salad, and we both had the soup of the day (clam chowder). It was not the best version of this dish Ive ever had (but I lived in New England for seven years so my standards are pretty high). Nonetheless, it was pretty good. The bread that accompanied our meal was also quite good, and the service was excellent. And one other thing, they have a nice special: on Wednesdays, bottles of wine are 12 price. Thats a heck of a deal. If youre looking for a traditional American steakhouse, this is a good choice.
I went there on a night that wasn’t busy during the week. I was seated right away after somewhere between 10 -20 minutes I hadn’t even been asked for a drink. Maybe they just forgot about us because the booth walls are so tall that they couldn’t see us I’m really not sure. I decided to leave and saw nobody on my way out. I don’t even think they realized they lost a customer. I have not gone back since but I did notice an orkin pest control truck parked in the back this morning. I more than likely will never go here again!
Happy Hour. They had happy hour from 9 – 11pm. we order the prawns and the chicken satay and they were awesome. $4/each and the martinis were $5.00. great prices and great food. loved it!
