Pretty low on the authentic Mexican list. The salsa is some of the saddest I’ve ever had. But people seem to Love this place. I’ve been here probably 20 times because some one close to me loves it for some reason. Lots of more authentic and better Mexican joints in this town.

One of our proudest unexpected finds! Great Mexican!!!. We took forever to cross the border from Canada to the States for Thanksgiving in 2012, and by the time we got off the I5 at exit 230 on our way to Deception Pass for camping, we were starving. We stopped for gas here and noticed a small indescript Mexican restaurant still open, ducked inside and within 15 mins we had large helpings of hot steamy Mexican food in front of us. It is by far the best mexican we’ve come across in years!! And to make sure our starvation didn’t color our judgement in 2012, we have since been back in recent times and Mexico Cafe DOESN’T DISAPPOINT! Wish this place was a little closer to home…
BEST IN THE VALLEY. Simply the Best Mexican Food in the Skagit Valley! AWESOME FAMILY ATMOSPHERE, best nachos, killer happy hour, best margaritas! Fish tacos are awesome, and the Carne Asada is wonderful.
Best Mexican food I’ve had in a long time! The service was excellent, fast, friendly. The restaurant isn’t fancy but it has lots of cozy booths and is very clean. The Carne Asada was cooked perfectly as ordered (med rare) and was extremely tender and flavorful. The Beef Chimichanga was loaded with lean ground beef and gooey cheese surrounded by a thin crispy tortilla; served with a delicious perfectly seasoned sauce on the side. The beans and rice were just OK and the salsa was so-so. That said it was still the tastiest Mexican meal I’ve had in years and I will definitely be back. Side note: for those of you familiar with this local chain which used have several locations, I was pleased to find out this one is still owned and operated by the same family. This is the first Mexico Cafe moved a few blocks from original location.
