Love Island Cafe. Great food, great service, & plenty of coffee all the time! The restaurant is nicely decorated inside with a great atmosphere for talking to family or friends. The outside is very appealing and catches the eye right away with a big sign right on the corner. They also have outdoor seating if you prefer!! One of my favorite places to go!
We really enjoyed our lunch here. The fish and chips were hot and not greasy. The filets were thick and fresh. The lobster bisque was rich with a good amount of lobster meat. Overall, a very nice experience.

Not impressed at all. First off, let me state the the only really redeeming aspect of this place is that it’s pretty much the only cafe in Oak Harbor that is open early on the weekend. Even this is disheartening, because it means that everybody and their brother in O.H. and beyond is there to eat in the morning, which results in super-long wait times. The staff is on the young side, and their inexperience shows. We should not have to wait 20 minutes before the waitress shows up to ask what we want to drink, especially with a 5 year old boy at the table; keeping him entertained for so long can be trying, but can be alleviated by providing crayons and paper, which they did not. When we finally did get our coffee, I had to ask 3 times for sugar. The food itself is not spectacular, which is strange because it costs quite a bit, more than it should for a typical greasy spoon, and make no mistake, despite all attempts to avoid being so, that is what Island Cafe is; a greasy spoon, somewhere between a truck stop cafe and Denny’s. My son wanted the hot cocoa with whipped cream and sprinkles, just like it shows in the kid’s menu picture…guess what? No whipped cream, and no sprinkles. This may seem small to most people, but to a little boy, it can be VERY disappointing. When I asked for it, I was told they were out…hmmm. Finally, I am generally not fond of asking for my check, especially if it’s obvious that we are done, and have been done for nearly a half an hour. I understand that it’s super busy, but c’mon. I saw more than enough staff to reasonably serve the customers, only they appeared to be very disorganized. All in all, we will not be returning to Island Cafe, which is sad because it is one of the few places in Oak Harbor to eat. Maybe if the prices come down and the food quality and service improved, I may consider it.PS: good luck parking, as well. Totally horrendous for the volume of people that eat there.
Breakfast all day. Pretty good. They have a decent selection and I like that they serve breakfast all day. The service has always been very nice.
Eh….. If there were a neutral vote I’d pick it. I don’t hate it but I don’t see me going back. The food isn’t bad but it’s not great and it’s too expensive to justify it not being better.
I expected a little more for the prices, but then again I didn’t expect much by the looks of this venue. The food was mediocre at best. Almost $10 for a veggie omelette? Really? And the venue is not very cozy. Cheap looking. The truth of the matter is that I haven’t been able to find a cozy American diner in the vicinity so we’ll probably have to put up with it. At least the staff is somewhat friendly, impersonal but friendly.
