Well, after a few days on Whidbey, I finally found THE spot. It can get no better, at any price, than this casual sitdown. As you might expect, most entrees described on the menu were served fried and every dish we ordered was fried, but so light, so crisp-unbelievable. If youve read my reviews, you know Im not only FROM the coast, but I can cook ANY seafood better than most restaurants….. but every now and again you run into a spot that exceeds even my ability… friends,here it is. Very casual atmosphere- kinda fish market look with some tables as an afterthought….and they do have a wholesale side and a spillover from there to their cold case. Super fresh…local…. large portions….holy smokes,every entree was big enough for my appetite! I had the crab cakes -whoa…. excellent with just a spritz of lemon juice. The calamari was almost as good-huge slices, panko breading. Really delightful. Another in our party of five had fried oysters and they were huge, double A selects with a TON of flavor…couldve eaten a dozen. I was also fortunate to get a small bite of the fish and chips (cod) and it, too, was so light and flavorful I wouldve enjoyed it more than once-Ill be back! Judging from the nibbles I had from around the table, the entire menu is safe to choose from…. Id be as big as a house if I lived on Whidbey, but since Im visiting you can bet I WILL be at Seabolts…maybe twice a day, until I keel over with a heart attack. What a find…. As for the other reviews who complain about service, I can only say youre focusing on the wrong thing here….and my party had no issues on a light day…. but Id put up with a punch in the head just to have what I ate. Come on!
