Duck Island is a swan in disguise!. We hesitated to stop here because….well, it’s on Aurora Ave. But true beer snobs will suffer a dive bar for great brews, so in we went. Wow! What a delightful surprise. The thoughtful selection of drafts, as well as the ABV of each, was nicely displayed on monitors above the bar. Much better than squinting to decipher a chalkboard. The interior is sophisticated yet cozy, with Scrabble boards built into several tables. And the beer — a wonderful variety from lesser known local breweries and several Belgians (my personal favorite). We finished with the Left Hand SmokeJumper Imperial Porter, which was yummy, and promised ourselves we would come back soon.
Great beer bar. Great little Seattle bar with tons of rotating taps and great, hard to find beers elsewhere. Nice little touch: late night dining courtesy of 24 hour Beth’s Cafe connected by a doorway. Pool table and pin ball machines, good music, and some cold beers. What else do ya’ need?
