A lovely place.. I’m so grateful that Fresh Flours is in our neighborhood. It’s such a bright, sunny place, the food is excellent and fresh, and the artwork is lovely. I always get the feeling that the staff and owner want to make the caf a place where people will be happy and treated well. That’s such a change from some cafes, such as Greenwood Chocolati and its violent artwork (bloody psychopaths holding bloody meat cleavers, anyone?) bitter and sludgy drinks (is it chocolate or mud) and staff that is always nagging you to buy some of their overpriced candies. Luckily, there’s Fresh Flours which, like Diva to the north, actually wants to have customers return, understands that all kinds of people go to the caf (including children), and understands that it’s part of a community. Just a lovely place.

Cute little bakery. Seattle is already slammed with great bakeries, which is a good problem to have. Fresh Flours adds a little extra to the scene by providing delicious Japanese-tinged goods, including their awesome black sesame shortbread cookies. They also do a great job with the coffee and french pastries as well. Both locations are great, but the Phinney Ridge one (reviewed here) is more comfortable.

Macaroon. The cashier wasn’t nice and the chocolate chip cookie was lacking and the macaroon overpriced

Extraordinary.. It is because of their basque cake that i have to go to the gym. and since fresh flours is across from my gym, i go to the gym to get their basque cake. i’ll never lose a pound and that’s okay. it is that good.

Wort the walk…. Twice!! Walked from 50th & market on our very first ( early) morning here from Michigan. Food was so good, we dragged the rest of the clan up the hill the next morning. Wonderful pastries with unique flavors. Very nice people. Great service.

Not just another coffeehouse. I will readily admit I am a fan of anything made with azuki beans so on Saturdays when I walk to yoga, I stop in and get their Azuki Bean Brioche. It is a marriage of Japanese bean paste and French pastry that isn’t overly sweet or oddly flavored. They also sell green tea pound cake and muffins which are also very good. The trick, though, is to arrive early (or before I get there) because they do sell out.
