I work right down the street from Hales, so love to stop here for a happy hour Imperial Pint (20 oz.) after work sometimes. The atmosphere is like your standard brewpub bar, with a brewery out back. The food is nothing to rave about, but you can get a huge burger for a decent price during there happy hour. Everything else seems a bit over priced for the quality, but don’t go for the food, they are a brewery. I have always enjoyed Hales Ales, especially their flagships. I don’t love some of the heavier darker ales they make, but they are done well. Service is always excellent and beer knowledge is there. If you want to try a Seattle beer staple, check out Hales. They also do beer dinners every few months which are a great way to experience a beer tasting properly paired with food that highlights flavor profiles. I will be back.
Went to HA as part of a Road Dog Brewery tour. The tour of the facility was brief but nice. The beers were excellent. Specifically, I preferred the German wheat and the nitro. The lobby sitting area had leather couches, was clean, and air conditioned. Recommended.

Good beer and meatloaf!. We were at another nearby brewery and spotted Hale’s Ales nearby. Steve and I decided to kill two birds with one stone. Hale’s also serves food and since I haven’t had any of their beer before we decided to eat, drink and be merry at Hale’s!Every once in a while I hit a brief trend where I just want French Dips for my sandwiches and so that is what I got. The fries were my side and my meal was good!In hindsight I think I have to say that I might have liked Steve’s meal just a little better. He got their meatloaf with mashed potatoes and my oh my, was that a good dish he ordered! I may need to go back and get that next time! For my first Hale’s beer ever I got the Red Menace and I actually really liked it! So much that after a short time after I had to go to the store and buy a six pack of it!Yum! Good stuff!
Great beer. Beer was great, awesome service @ bar. There burger was not horrible but will skip food next time. Stick to beer!
So many disappointments. Ordered Rueben sandwich on sourdough – hate caraway seeds in rye. Was told ‘No Problem’. It arrived on rye – was told ‘No other bread in the restaurant’.Ordered Creme Brulee for dessert – was told ‘No Creme Brulee available’. Our table for 10 was the only one of its size and was right next to the entry door. A bitterly cold draft billowed in every time the door was opened. They need to construct a small entry foyer to prevent this really unpleasant experience from happening.Altogether, not an enjoyable evening at the Brewpub.
Good but…. The service was lacking. The Ale’s are delicious and the food is good. We tried the Garlic Mac and Cheese with BBQ Pork and Shepherd’s Pie. I expected more garlic in the Mac and Cheese but perhaps that is the way Hale prepares the Mac?
