I have been here more than any other establishment in Seattle. Robert (bar tender) makes the best cocktail I have found to date: Bobby Burns. My boyfriend loves gin drinks and oscillates between a Last Word, Corpse Reviver, and Noah Claypole, all are delicious. That and the garlic truffled popcorn and there is no better way to spend an evening. Sit at the bar and chat with Robert until you have found your favorite drink and you won’t be able to stop going. Featured in Seattle Met for their Old Sally as a Seattle Top 25 cocktail, but in my opinion they are by far the best and for the Bobby Burns, which can be made so fantastically by no one else.
Easily one of the best cocktail bars in North Seattle. Oliver’s Twist is a consistently excellent cocktail bar. No pretense–just excellent bartenders that are clearly passionate about their craft. I enjoy trying new items up on the chalkboard, but classics like a rye old fashioned, aviation, or vieux carre are always done beautifully. Bar snacks are generally quite good too–nobody can turn down their truffled popcorn. I always look forward to my next visit.
Truffle popcorn. I was so pleased to find somewhere in my new neighbourhood that does truffle oil popcorn! A huge big bag of it for $4.50! Yum.. Also ate the fingerling potatoes in duck fat, and the arugula fennel pine nut salad. Also a big YUM.. Had some nice bordeaux with it too, though the wine was a little pricey.Happy Hour is not that special of a deal, though it does last until 7 which is always nice. You get a dollar off drinks and I think it was $2 off food? Something like that. There are not a lot of choices on the food menu, I think this place is much more about the drinks, but the food that they have, is awesome, and even with fewer choices, you’ll find something really good. Service was great, too. Oh, and they have a lovely bathroom.
I paid $7 for a short whiskey sour, and from the looks of it, only two other people could afford to be in there, and this was a Friday night. 🙁
Eclectic Charm in a Neighborhood Bar. Drinks and snacks done right in a cozy feels like a living neighborhood bar. I had a perfectly made martini and some delicious sauteed brussels sprouts with bacon. Friends had the garlicky kale and a lovely little grilled cheese sandwich with tomato soup. They tried some of the more creative cocktails and those looked pretty and seemed to please. Our waiter was attentive and pleasant. I might not trek across town just to visit but when I am in the neighborhood I will definitely make another stop.
Stuffy bartender/Great food. The bartender was quite offstandish and stuffy- a little personality and a smile would be helpful here. The food and specialty cocktails are wonderful however (truffle popcorn and stuffed dates to die for) so I’ll definitely be back.
