We went here based on a recommendation and were very pleased! It is a casual pub atmosphere, but maybe a little hipper. Happy hour food and beers were great. We ordered fish tacos and shredded pork tacos, both were delicious. Well be back for sure as there were so many other things on the menu we wanted to try, and the burgers we saw being served looked amazing. The best part was that the place is totally kid friendly. Our two-year-old was mesmerized by the airplanes coming and going at the small airstrip right out the window!
Way Too Loud. The Hub on Tacoma Ave is my favorite restaurant so I was happy to see Pat and Carole open a new location in Gig Harbor. I’ve dined there twice now. The place still suffers from the usual start-up issues: entree arrives before appetizer, drinks are slow to arrive and to be refreshed, check arrives without asking about dessert. These issues will probably be resolved with some experience. The big reason to go to Tacoma Ave even if you live on the peninsula is the noise level at the airport location. There is nothing in the decor to dampen the sound in the restaurant. If the sound is on for the TVs (e.g., for a football game) the din is really loud. In short, you cannot have a conversation in this restaurant so I would avoid it until they address this. I’ll go back once a month or so to see how they are doing, but I recommend going to the Tacoma location – which is great – until they figure out how to make the Gig Harbor location work for diners who want to be able to hear one another.
Went for breakfast last Sun. Service was great but a little slow due to full house. Too loud to have conversation. Meal arrived cold; scrambled eggs overcooked and under seasoned, potatoes cold, biscuit tasty but cold and served with no butter or jelly, coffee hot but watery with no flavor. Good quality sausage but, again, cold. Will return in a month and give them one more try after they’ve had time to get the kinks out. Thanks to the wait staff.
