My husband and I came here because we wanted to visit Fox Island and a co-worker recommended it. To be technical, he said it was literally the only bar in the area but that it was pretty good in it’s own right. Honestly, we would have been just fine with a little dive but when we walked through the convenience store that shares its entryway we weren’t expecting such a gem! We bellied up to the bar as we usually do but there was also a nice, heated semi-outdoor area and an amazing patio which we probably would have camped out in if it was just a few degrees warmer that day. There’s a small but well-chosen selection of beer and cider on draft including some I hadn’t seen elsewhere and the bartender was knowledgeable and good with recommendations. The food wasn’t mind blowing but the pizza was above average (could have used more options for toppings, though). Music was Pandora which I don’t consider a bad thing (much better than a video jukebox), nice ’80s Brit Pop the day we were there. If you’re in Tacoma or Olympia and looking for a little day trip, Zog’s is a great stop. And Fox Island is beautiful to boot.
