Best Coffee and more…. Truly the best coffee in town. The ONLY really good dry capuchino’s in town! All organic dairy products, all the usual non-dairy alternatives, good chai & some very good tea & tisane choices. It is all & not all about the coffee: the conversation is a big draw. Anyone is welcome to join in the chat, and it is fun and interesting! Arrive in the morning and there may be some baked goodies, but this is a coffee shop, not a food venue…
Returning Customer. I’ve lived in and out of Port Townsend for 6 years now and I choose to return again and again to uptown’s 1012 Coffee Bar for their espressos, breves and mochas. The baristas are trained well and remember customers and the actual bar top is copper and is a beautiful piece of work. (The owner told me her hubby installed it, go team!) They have had some really good photography and paintings on display over the years, I always enjoy coming back and seeing whats new on the walls and getting consistently great coffee. 1012 takes pride in the quality of their ingredients, and if someone wants quality coffee from people who know what theyre doing then this is the place to be.
A pleasant surprise. Read Bo’s review and went looking for the theatre and arts district of Port Townsend. The locals are pulling his leg on this. But, the little coffee shop was a pleasant surprise. Stop here, sit, order an espresso medium. We have become to connected to the rattle and speed that Starbucks produces. Don’t get me wrong, I like Starbucks and they do have/make good coffe from their many quality blends (not talking about fluff drinks). Have an espresso, they do it well. My cup was hot and my coffee just right. The air in Uptown is cooler and there are fewer tourists in a hurry. What I needed was a biscoff or orange short bread cookie to go with my coffee. Something to play with the coffee flavor. Had I thought this out I’d have stopped at a bakery just round the corner a hundred feet and picked something up. Yes, you should stop at the bakery Uptown early in the morning – don’t wait to eat your purchase, eat now.
1012 Coffee Bar is EXCELLENT. The Coffee bar is in the theater and arts district in Port Townsend away from the tourist areas. Found it by cruising the town on my motorcycle. First I stopped to ask the locals out front some questions about the town. I went two blocks and turned around to go back. The proprietress, Suzy, hails from New Jersey and is a wonderful woman. She promised me an espresso better than my Mother could make. I mentioned I like cinnamon in my espresso, and she asked if she wanted her to put it into the ground coffee in the press, which is the absolute best way to do it BTW. It was indeed the best espresso I could ever have imagined. I stayed there for around three hours meeting the coolest local people. Suzy and 1012 Coffee Bar are not to be missed in Port Townsend.
This is the real local deal, with very good espresso and a cast of local characters for color. Suzy uses Vivace beans and organic milk, and has tasty scones straight out of the oven in the morning. If you are afraid you won’t find a good espresso in a small town, skip the Safeway Starbucks, and stop by 1012.
