Doc’s has a great setting and wonderful view of the entrance to Puget Sound. Seagulls fly overhead as you look out over the water that is mere inches from where you stand. Fishing trollers mix with pleasure craft as they fade off towards the Olympic Mountains on one side, and the Cascades on the other. Sounds like a terrific setting, and it is. Too bad Doc’s doesn’t live up to this setting. Having been there a handful of times, the best way to sum this restaurant up is, inconsistent. Sometimes you will have good clam chowder, sometimes it tastes super salty with zero clams. Sometimes the food has flavor, sometimes it has none. Sometimes this fish is great, other days it’s not. I will give them credit for the good portion sizes and the outdoor and indoor atmosphere. The waitress staff is a mixed bag from pleasant to fake pleasant which isn’t that appealing. Prices are over the top. Everything on the menu is overpriced, and depending on the quality of the food you get that day, it makes all the difference. If you are spending $$$ for even a basic sandwich, it better be good, not just mediocre to average, which is unfortunately what you get more often then not. Still, they are way over priced.The most recent visit on a quiet Thursday a little after noon, it took 45 minutes from when I ordered, to when we actually got our food. That seemed a little long…Due to the inconsistency and price as well as other reasons listed above, I do not recommend Doc’s until they improve in several areas. They got an awesome setting, now have the restaurant live up to it!
