Chicken Marsala. Rich, intense, perfectly juicy chicken with amazing carrots and summer squash, and mashed potatoes that would make your Christian relatives go back and try to improve their own version.21 Nov, 2014Without a doubt the best restaurant in Port Townsend. The most important thing to me in a restaurant is consistency. Is the meal going to be as good, or even better, than the last time I visited? Will the wait staff be pleasant? Will I feel as if the choice to dine out was the right choice, given the money I spent? Will I leave knowing I will return some day and dine again?I called in this evening to place an order for carry-out. The day had been a little on the down side and I didn’t have the energy to go grocery shopping and then cook dinner late in the evening, so I perused the choices and called the Fountain Cafe. The gentleman on the other end was polite and gave me plenty of information about the specials when I asked. Nothing is worse than calling a restaurant to order and being told in a rushed, rude tone what the special is or being put on hold. I asked if I could have the meal ready at a certain time after work, and the gentleman assured me that it could easily be done. When I arrived to pick up my dinner, the owner thanked me for supporting local business. He was sincere. I support local business when I can, and those folks who make their thanks genuine stand out and I’m always happy to hear that, especially in this economy. I sat down at home to begin my feast and was floored. The portions of chicken marsala, mashed potatoes, and fresh vegetables were huge. I judge a restaurant by its ability to pay attention to the quality of the side dishes; if a restaurant opens a can and serves in on a plate, I will not return. The carrots and summer squash in the wine sauce were as fantastic as the chicken, which was so juicy I could easily cut it with a fork. The marsala sauce itself was not the runny, weak liquid that is served elsewhere, it is a symphony of richness prepared by an unabashed lover of food. Every detail, down to the herb butter with the fresh baked bread was just spot on.If you’ve ever had a meal that changed your whole day, you’ll know what I mean. Perhaps this isn’t the most professional review here, but it is the most honest. If you want to get a giant hug from life, eat at the Fountain Cafe. You’ll then sit down later and end up writing a review like this.

Not kid friendly. My husband and I were treated rudely when we walked in. We had our infant son and were told we could not bring in his stroller. Then the waitress walked off leaving us standing there feeling unwelcome and embarrassed. Other customers commented on how rude it was and apologized for the waitress’s behavior. I will never go here – even without my infant.

Unbiased review. Delicious. Wow, my husband and I both agree that the meal we both got (sweet Marsala chicken and Paella) were delicious, as was the Mediterranean appetizer (tomatoes basil fresh mozzarella with perfectly toasted bread and terrific balsamic reduction). It is a small, quaint, restaurant with about 10-12 tables. The food was piping hot and will go back on our next visit! Don’t let other reviewers tarnish your decision.

YUCK. WeCame here in hopes for a quiet good meal, instead got a loud, noisy shack of a restruant. Not to mention the artwork on the walls that I’m hoping is from the owners child. But, let’s. It to the chase, the food. (ick) Considering the price of food, i figured it would actually be good, especially with the good reviews, but not to my surprise the people of Port Townsend OBVISOUSLY don’t have ANY taste. Especially when you have a waiter that has dreadlocks and she looks and smells like she has never taken a shower, and has never seen hair clippers. I think something was living in her hair. The food had way to many things that could not be Identified and was definately not on the menu, the owner put the restruant down as American but in no way shape or form is this american, instead I would label this a Italian pasta, and seafood restruant. Avoid the place at all costs, even if it does mean, going to a McDonalds, or Burger King. I think this is why the owner did not put a website in place for this place, because in no way shape or form if they put a menu online would ANYBODY consider coming to this place.

Milliemeter. Be careful, they add 20% to all bills without telling you and you do not get an itemized bill
