The Best Thai food!. Seriously fantastic food and well worth the trip to Columbia City. Atmosphere is very nice and somehow soothing but very simply done. Service is a tad slow but very friendly. You shouldn’t leave without ordering the Crispy Garlic chicken and my kids love the carb fried rice and Pad Thai This is where we take anyone from out of town because it always pleases. Even the drinks are great.
We seem to keep coming back to the Spice Room because it is very conveniently located for us. I like the drapes that divide the tables for a cozier feel. The food is pretty good- I’ve had some awesome dishes here but most are just pretty good. Last time we were here the place was jamming with people and not enough servers to help. We’ll keep coming back, but I wouldn’t make the trip from across town.
Great Food. I’ve tried this place only a few times, but what I’ve had was really great. No complaints about the food; everything tasted fine. Of course I’ve gone only during the daytime or early dinner, so I might not be right, but the place was rather empty all the times I’ve gone. Sad. One Sunday for lunch our party was the only one there. I hope dinner time is better because I would hate to see Spice Room go. It’s right in my neighborhood in Columbia City, so I can walk there.
I want to believe…. In spite of my overall negative impression of this place, I have been back a few times because it’s conveniently located. It’s not horrible, but each time I go I admonish myself.Pros:1. Nice atmosphere – if you want to go somewhere and spend a lot of time talking and hanging out or whatever.Cons:1. The food is mediocre, and overpriced.2. The service isn’t very good, even when there’s nobody else in the restaurant.3. The waiter may be handsome, but his people skills need work. Actually, his waiting skills need work too.4. The time I ordered the famous crispy garlic chicken, I found the chicken so hard and dry it wasn’t enjoyable to chew.
