We ordered pad Thai and green curry. The pad Thai was mediocre and the green curry was horrible! I wouldn’t recommend Mezzo Thai.

Great food, sketchy service, one Great Suki Pot Debacle.. Sooooo…. we kinda just got highway robbed at Mezzo Thai on Gage tonight. Don’t get me wrong, their food is usually amazing (their pineapple fried rice is divine), but we decided to spring for the suki pot tonight. Big mistake. After switching tables twice (one table didn’t have a suki pot, the other didn’t have a proper outlet to power it), and waiting 20 minutes for a pair of lemon drops, we were finally seated and ready to begin this sad little dining experience. Suki pot is sort of like fondue, but with soup broth and meat/veg. We’d never done it before, and had no clue what we were doing. Apparently neither did our server….. she stumbled through an explanation of the process, and eventually told us that it would be fine to just dump everything in the boiling hot soup broth all at once. After we did that, the owner came out and saw everything in the pot, got really upset, and called the server over, whom she proceeded to berate in front of us for not explaining it right, and for forgetting our rice and proper eating utensils. Probably the most awkward moment I’ve ever experienced at a restaurant.Long story short, because of our lack of proper instruction, our food was a bland, overcooked disaster. My boyfriend gave up after one tiny bowl, and I just dumped as much salt and tamarind sauce into as possible to make it palatable. Eventually the server (who was very nice in spite of her cluelessness) apologetically offered us some free desserts, which we politely declined and asked for the check. Our tab with three drinks and a basically un-eaten pot of broth with one small plate each of veg and meat came to $70. We asked to speak to the owner and were told she was busy cooking. Finally admitting defeat, we paid the check and left still quite hungry. This isn’t the first time I’ve had weird/spotty service here. Never before have I had food that wasn’t great, but hey, I’ll take partial credit for cooking it wrong this time. Every time I’ve been here, within spans of a month or two (I can’t live long without that pineapple fried rice), I’ve never seen the same waitstaff twice. I get the sneaking suspicion that the owner is a very scary, intense lady to work for. I guess the bottom line is that you may encounter some mediocre, potentially awkward service here, but as far as the Tri Cities goes, there is no better Thai food out there. So I leave it up to you – if you’re willing to risk mediocre to possibly ridiculously terrible service, give this place a shot. If not, go ahead and stick to the mediocre Thai food you can find at the rest of the restaurants in town, and enjoy your service with a smile.

Fantastic food. Service was wonderful. Exemplifies all that is good in Thai cuisine. No two chefs prepare the food the same way. This was a wonderful way to end a day of travel.

I first came here about three years ago and loved it. Tried it again today and still love it. Excellent, creative, Thai food. Best in town, and very nice owner. Please open another one closer to Spokane!
