Scott. Bit of a disappointment overall.
Used to look forward to visiting Tagaris. Used to. Last visit in late Dec. 2010 was very unpleasant due to the very snarky, cocky male waiter. Hope the give him a pink slip in an his paycheck soon. He made us feel as though we were an inconvenience. Very odd experience compared to our prior visits. I do not see us returning to Tagaris for quite a while. That waiter ruined what should have been a pleasant occasion.
Service and food quality clearly on the decline. Tagaris used to be (in my mind) the best place to eat in the Tri-Cities. This summer we treated some friends to dinner there. The food, while reasonably good, was nothing like the truly outstanding food I had always had there previously. The service was quite poor and inattentive (again, very different from previous visits). One entree was incorrect and returned and the wine order was also incorrect and very slow to be filled. Surprising, as it was a very quiet weeknight with only about three tables being served. Our server was quite casual about his errors and promptly corrected them and comped us both the wine and meal, but it would have been preferable for things to have been correct in the first place. It seems the level of care and attention at Tagaris has really declined, perhaps because the fairly upscale and often business clientele are a pretty captive audience. It’s disappointing to spend $150 on a meal for four and walk away vaguely dissatisfied. I doubt we will be returning until we hear things have changed for the much better.
15th Wedding Anniversary Dinner Mistake at Tagaris. Called a week ahead to make arrangements for family of six with two vegans and was told everything would be ready. Upon arrival menu had to be adjusted at the table to my families needs, nothing had been written down or anticipated. Took 45 minutes to be served first course which had 2 of the 6 dishes returned. My steak was tough and cold, my Son’s meal was so bad he left all of it. Bottom line is the check arrived for $285.00 and my waiter reminded me that an automatic tip is calculated for groups of six or more but if I wished there is a line to add more………I told him he was lucky to get the automatic tip. Next time I will save a couple hundred and go to Ice Harbor and have good tasting food, that is served warm and quickly by friendly people who work hard for tips.
Excellent food and service. Had Clams, Chorizo and Pasta with Seasonal Greens, Melon and Toasted Pistachios. Incredible meal as well as wine, Malbec. Thanks Tagaris Winery!!!
UMMM OKAY…… While attending a business dinner Monday evening with my husband. A man a woman and two small children held a procession through the dinning room. The man was carrying a crate, and the children were carrying flowers. I asked my server what was happening she replied that that was the owner and his family, but as to what was actually happening she seemed just as perplexed as we did. We watched as they took the crate out the back door and onto the patio. They then proceeded to dig a hole place the crate into it and cover it back up. Apparently the family dog had passed away and this fruit-loop of a man thought that it was a good idea to bury it on the restaurant property.I was thoroughly impressed with the food, wine, and service until this little impromptu due funeral was held. The poor waitstaff was completely humiliated, and who could blame them. Mr. Tagaris is a nut job if he thinks this acceptable behavior to exhibit in an establishment that prepares and serves food.
Skilled staff. Everyone from hostess to waiters to cooks knows his/her job. Soups are a great treat and specials are always a surprize.
