Shipley’s, Shipley’s, SHIPLEY’S!!!!. For those of you who are to young to remember the original name of Alpen Village was it was Shipley’s. Living in Gold Bar during my youth my grandparents and my dad and mom took me to Shipley’s all the time.Shipley’s was a place with RIDES (sort of). They had a Viking ship with working oars, a kissing booth, a working wishing well (with REAL running water.)Back in the day Shipley’s had really good burgers, fries and wonderful soft serve ice cream cones. Ahhh….those days have long since past and the Alpen Village replaced Shipley’s in the 80’s and they have carried on the traditions for great hamburgers (in many different meats), fries and fast food in general. You should stop here and have a burger..etc. The food they make is really good and you just need to pull off Highway 2 to sample their food. The Elk burger is stupendous. Thanks to Adeline Zebell’s (aka: the green store) for all the candy and comic books I bought when I was growing up and also thanks to Warren Sacia for my first job picking raspberries (I made a whole $1.82 cents that day) when I was 10 years old. I only lasted ONE day at the job but it taught me alot.
Best Burger in WA!. I am obsessed with Alpen Burger. This place is oddly adorable…it looks like a little red barn and they have all these cute miniature buildings…a wishing well, a windmill, a waterwheel, etc. Alpen is a drive-thru restaurant off of HWY2. Awesome burgers, the best fries, and milkshakes to die for! My sister and I love the Alpen burger basket and the new orange chicken and rice is so unexpected and so yummy! I fly from Florida to Seattle with Alpen Burger on my mind! I have Yumgasms every time I come to this place. Oh, and they have the best hotdog!
Buffalo Burger to die for!. On our way home from a very long road trip. Stopped in for lunch. Had the captain’s platter (regular size) and the Buffalo Burger Basket. Captain’s platter was pretty good, but not great, though the tartar sauce was probably the best I’ve ever had. The buffalo burger though? TO DIE FOR! Highly recommend this little place just for those.
