Rudest bartenders in Tacoma. The cocktails are good and the concept is cool, but plan to be treated like the a second class citizen if you’re not a friend of the staff/owners. I took an out of town guest there because I thought it was a unique place and was thoroughly embarrassed by the way we were treated. I’ll never go back no matter how delicious and creative their concoctions are.
Different. I read through the reviews, and I have to agree with the people that are complaining the service is slow, but that’s what this place offers. If you are in the mood for amazing cocktails (that need time to be perfect), and just want to sit and relax, not worried about when your drink gets there, or when you’re going to order your food, this is a great place. Very small, not good for large groups, great for dates or just two friends getting together to chat. I enjoy going there to sip over a cocktail (and yes, I do always wait 7-10 minutes for it, but it’s always worth it) nibble on a small plate, and simply enjoy my time with whoever I’m with. Obviously, do not go there if you are in a hurry, need a drink asap, and are starving. Just know what you’re in for and you’ll have a wonderful time deciding which drink to relinquish your taste buds to, bask in the dim light, and just slow everything down.P.S. If you’re not an adventurous drinker, and want something slightly sweet but also refreshing, my two favorites are the Lavender cocktail, and House of Leaves.
Great cocktails!. The 1022 Bar is excellent – some of the best cocktails I’ve ever had. If you are a cocktail connoisseur and don’t mind waiting while your mixologist does his magic, then this is the place for you. (If on the other hand, you like cheap beer and fast service, head across the street to the convenience store). Yes, it’s small but that keeps it eccentric. Definitely one of my favorite bars in the area!
This was the worst service I’ve ever had in my life!! Small bar + BAD service = bankruptcy!! A friend recommended it and I still don’t get it! TERRIBLE!!!!
Service is sloooooooooooow, staff is pretentious and full of attitude. My friends and I have been there a few times and have decided that we will pass on ever going to this bar again. It’s unfortunate because the drinks ate tasty as is the food; but what good is that if it takes forever to order, and id the staff acts like they could care less about serving you. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone I know.
1022 South. Second time to this venue, and this visit wasn’t much different. Very small venue, which is fine, but owner will not allow you to order drinks as you are waiting for a table. Service very, very slow. There are much better venues with a wider selection than this place.
Well, that was something…. Simply loved it. The food was great, but the drinks were stunningly good. It was so fun to just chat with the bartender and learn what he was doing to whip up these little gems. Probably the most fun I have ever had sitting at a bar.
