Discrimination of blind people. A friend tried to go to Engine House No 9 on the 8th. She was with her father and she is blind. The staff would not serve her because she could not walk to the table by herself. She is blind. She did not bring in a service dog or service pony which is allowed under ADA, she came with her father. The restaurant’s excuse was they only serve people who can walk to their own table to make sure they are not drunk. What kind of a business does this? Not only is it snarky and discriminatory – it is against the law. I suggest that if the restaurant wants to stay in business they change their ways and fast!Pamila
Very cool historic building. The placards with the horses’ names are a nice touch. Good service and good pub food.
Great menu… great selection of beer
The restaurant is in a great setting. However, the service and food is unsatisfactory. It took forever to get my food, and I’ve had a better chicken sandwich from Burger King.
Great place for locals. Tons of beer to choose from, some better than others, but the house microbrews are great and there is quite a variety. The Menu is fabulous for a bar and you have to try the fire pasta if you like a little spice in your life! You even have the chance to have your name placed upon a plaque on the wall…if you have the dedication! 🙂
Great Character.. Regarding architecture and history, this is one of the coolest places in Tacoma. The bar is housed in one of Tacoma’s oldest fire stations, dating back to the early 1900’s. The booth I was sitting in had teeth marks from the horses chewing on the beams back in the day. During the daytime this is a great place for a drink and some decent food. At night time it turns into a frat party though, which doesn’t usually equal a good time.
