All around solid food. Very good Indian food. Always a safe bet. Love their chicken korma that they call something I can’t pronounce/spell. Prices are reasonable. Serving size is ample (even a big guy like me gets three meals out of a single to go order). Really, you can’t go wrong with this place. India Mahal downtown Tacoma is better, in my opinion, but you have to pay for parking and it’s not within walking distance of my house, so this is the one I frequent the most. If you live off of Sixth Ave and like Indian food, most definitely give this place a try – you won’t be sorry.
Never disappoints. I enjoy this restaurant and its food so much that each time I go I’m actually afraid I’ll get disappointed. Luckily, that has never happened- over the past 7 years every meal I’ve had there has been consistently delicious. My favorite meal is a simple vegetable korma and some naan. The soup that comes with the entree is always a nice treat, too. They clearly take pride in what they do- the owner is almost always there making sure diners are happy.
Awesome food, ok service. We arrived before 6pm on a weekend, just in time before the huge dinner rush came. It’s obviously a popular restaurant. Because of the huge rush, our original server didn’t even check back with us after getting our food. We were in the restaurant a total of 1 hour 30 minutes and sat the last 30 minutes at our table, not eating our food, looking around for assistance, without one employee asking us if we needed anything. We had to flag someone for assistance (bill, to-go containers, etc.) The food was good, but unlike most Indian food, it wasn’t better the next day as leftovers. I’d go again, I’d just order take out.
Always a great choice. This has been one of my old time favorites. Good food with so much flavor, and a very friendly staff. Nothing bad on the menu.
Oh Indian food…. After a very long and boring meeting for work I decided to stop into Gateway to India. Partly because I LOVE LOVE LOVE Indian food, and partly because I had heard of but never seen or tasted from this place. First thing I noticed was that it was in such a great area. Second, when I opened the door the strong and intoxicating scent of Indian spices (which in my opinion is a key sign of great food). I was planning on sitting in, but since it was just me I ordered out. And they made no fuss about it , even though it was a pretty busy night. Oh and the food…FABULOUS. I ordered the murgh vindaloo and a roti. It’s lasted me 3 days worth of dinners! And every dish comes with this awesome vegan-friendly soup that it just wonderful. I will definitely be back!
Very tasty food. My wife and I love this place! We visit Gateway to India for most of our celebratory dinners and lunches and have found it to be the best Indian food in the area! Top class food and excellent service. Authentic Indian cuisine. We recommend Gateway to India very highly.
