We were very disappointed in this restaurant. The service was slow and indifferent (we were a table of 3 and there were only 4 other tables occupied at the time), the food was almost inedible (mahi mahi tacos) and overpriced. The view is great but doesn’t make up for the rest.

Terrible Service and poor food. My 10 year old grand-daughter asked to go to Harbor Lights as a celebration for her completion of a play with Tacoma Youth Theatre. We had my 93 year old mother with us. When we went to order we order two adult meals and a child’s meal for my grand-daughter and mother. The waiter was extremely rude and said we couldn’t do that. My mother would need to order off the regular menu. We tried to explain that the other meals were too much for her, but he refused to let her order a child’s fish and chips. When my grand-daughter asked for chocolate milk, he bluntly told her they did not have it. I know they chocolate syrup and milk, all they would need to do is mix it. We have never had a restaurant refuse to do that before. I went to the hostess and asked to speak to the manager who was not available. I told the hostess the problem with the meal and the waiter re-appeared and said this time they would let her order from the children’s menu, but that they had a certain percentage of customers who were seniors and they simply could not let them all order from the children’s menu. I am a senior, but I had a regular meal. How many actually have asked for child’s portion? This was the second time I have had problems. A month ago we went to have lunch there and my mother’s sandwich had big tough shrimp, not small bay shrimp and the bread was all soggy and she could not pick it up. My sandwich was cold and the tomato and hard and white centered, inedible. It is a beautiful location and remodeled building, but until they upgrade the food and provide better service, I won’t be returning or recommending it. It is too bad because this has been a family favorite for over 50 years!
Sword fish top notch!!! Great place for seafood
Disappointed. Flew into Seattle, asked for recommendations for a good seafood restaurant and was given directions to Harbor Lights. Great location on the water, older restaurant but table clothed and clean, getting excited for some really good Seattle seafood. Ordered prawns In garlic butter and panko fried cod filets. What arrived at our table was a quikie meal. The prawns were floating in water giving me the impression they were frozen and microwaved, tasted that way too. The cod while tasty was greasy. I’m a private chef so I know food and technique. While I won’t bash this restaurant for ambiance and service which by the way was great, our food left me very disappointed. Maybe our mistake was ordering from the early bird menu, naww, all food regardless of the time or menu ordered from is representative of the establishment that serves it. Bar drinks are good, I just wish I could say something positive about the food.
Fantastic!. I’m from Michigan and a few of us girls went out to Washington on vacation. Our hotel was a few minutes outside of Tacoma, so for dinner one night we decided to try something that we don’t have much of at home. Harbor Lights was what we decided on. Our waitress was awesome, and we were seated in the more outer area. We had salmon, calamari and an appetizer. Everything was so good! I will definitely stop back if I ever head west again (which is more than likely!) Loved it! 🙂
Best bar, blue chesse dressing and crab legs!. I love the Harbor Lights. The signature dish is the seared crab legs, they are so much better thanoverpriced lobster. I like sitting at the bar..the service is outstanding and the bartender is fast friendly and knows how to make her drinks. They have the best blue cheese dressing…if you are feeling a bit under the weather the necter chowder will cure your blues. It’s the only bar on the waterfront where you can enjoy the water and watch all the folks roaming on Ruston Way…I recommend it for rainy/sunny Saturdays…
