Knapps, Like many restaurants in Tacoma, my mother worked ant and I followed in my youth, this was a go to place for the best breakfast and lunch places ever, I am not surprised this is still a staple after 60 years!I will be back next trip.
Knapps Restaurant. Is it even in business anymore? If so, it’s a miracle. I’ve been there a couple of times because the old folks I was with wanted to go. It was awful. I would never go there again unless forced to.
Great Breakfast !. Knapps ISNT conveniently close to my home.. In fact I have to drive clear around Commencement Bay to reach it.. That should tell you something..Ive only eaten breakfast at Knapps .. Im sure their other meals are good but their breakfasts are SO good that Ive made them my go-to breakfast restaurant. The standout for me: The Monster Omelet … stuffed with breakfast meats, cheese AND hash browns, smothered in country gravy.. Its the best breakfast Ive had (again and again) in the Puget Sound area.. and Im a breakfast person that searches out great breakfasts..The only way to improve upon the Monster Omelet.. the ONLY way.. is to add a side of SOS Gravy on biscuits.. If youre an SOS lover like me, look no further.. Once again the best Ive found anywhere..Beyond the food their service is excellent.. If youre a repeat customer the waitresses recognize you and treat you like family.. This is a place groups of friends meet at regularly and a place youre happy to leave a tip at.. And the restaurant itself is located in the Proctor District which is a very pleasant part of town..
Everything bad about diner food. I had the cajun chicken sandwich which wasn’t bad, but my bf had a really terrible turkey ‘sandwich’ which was a pile of cheap deli-style turkey they probably bought from the supermarket deli. It was stale, and he didn’t feel safe eating it! Put that with a pile of salty instant mashed potatoes. Yuk! It’s not hard to boil a potato, I don’t like places that serve instant mash. The kids menu was an inedible rubbery ‘cheese’ sandwich on white bread, with a big pile of steak fries. No wonder there’s an obesity problem with kids in this country. Our poor little 4 year old friend didn’t eat any of what she was served. The menu was just a carb/grease-fest. Not the best place to eat, our friend felt embarrassed, taking us there. She said it was good years ago, but they have obviously lost it. The service was ok. No complaints there.

Knapp’s!. Amongst the entourage of proctor resturaunts we have Knapp’s. Great place, good food, good service. Proctor has a pretty sweet deal going on being right in the middle of a populated area and within walking distance of many houses. Knapp’s is always populated with regulars and feels very friendly. Try out the liver and onions next time your there.
