Over the Moon Cafe, a Whimsical Wonderland. My partner in crime and I came three times before being able to get a table. On the first try, there was a private event, the second, came three minutes too late for the last seating of the night and the third time, we were the first ones seated. We came at the start of dinner service and the restaurant was empty, which gave us time to do photos without disrupting anyone else’s dining experience.I liked the dark and whimsical decor, which extended to the bathrooms. It felt like we were having a meal down the rabbit hole in the Alice in Wonderland story. We ordered off the dinner menu, chicken with rustic vegetables, a pear and spinach salad and for dessert a charming banana cream pie without the crust served in a mason jar. I had tea which was served in a very large cup. The food was delicous I will admit, but there were a few issues with our experience. The bread was served last and had been left in the oven too long making it inedible and the service seemed slow since we were the only ones in the restaurant at the time. We both agreed that we should come back during lunch because the menu was a better value and had a better selection than dinner in our opinion. Teresa Potter

Urban Loft meets French Romantic. The name is misleading…However, we were really happy when we walked in – the decor is in the ‘Deep Autumn’ palette – there are eclectic voluptuous vintage arm chairs mixed with the ceiling having the urban industrial piping look – you might not want to go in jeans as you may feel a little out of place with the rest of the customers – people like to dress quite smartly here….there is a deep, cozy and warm feeling about the decor – the food is like something Robert Irvine would serve in Restaurant: Impossible – clean and gourmet but a slight rustic twist on what he would do – very tasty food, go at lunchtime to try it out – because the evening prices are quite expensive – There were 2 books leaning against the lamp on our table – a nice touch…we had to wait about 20 minutes – but we were happy reading poems to each other – don’t go here for fast food – this place is perfect for a date or celebration when you have plenty of time to just soak in the ambience…

Cozy place, good food. The ‘cafe’ in the name was misleading for me, so it was a brilliant surprise to walk into this romantic, eclectic little restaurant (maybe 20 tables in the place on two floors). Went with another couple, and the food was great – I enjoyed the crab cakes, and my friend loved the duck. Smaller menu, but well appointed and the wine list is pretty decent. Definitely a nice place to enjoy a good dinner with friends; we’ll be back.

Best little cafe!. When I was visiting Seattle, I went to Tacoma. I searched for a good place to eat and stumbled upon this cafe by accident. I loved the food so much. I wish that I lived there and could go back every week!

Good food, nice atmosphere. We’ve eaten at Over the Moon several times when attending events at the Rialto Theatre and have always enjoyed it. It’s also near the Pantages Theatre. Last night I had a very plump duck breast in orange sauce that was delicious, and my wife enjoyed the crab bisque. The soup had to be reheated (no problem) but the duck was piping hot.The menu is limited in variety, but the dishes are generally very well executed.Finding the narrow opening of Opera Alley opposite the theaters takes a little looking around.
