Ribs. Tasty with mild sauce that was so good. Perfect greens and rice and beans. 5 big ribs. Corn bread.
Ive had better. I just expected more of a southern style taste the chicken was ok.. The catfish was not great the ribs taste ordinary… Honestly the sides were the best items I ate.. Overall 1out of 5!!!
Amazing food and service.. Brought family to enjoy great food and we were not disappointed. We were greeted as we came through the door and seated. Having a large group of eight come in 45 min. before closing would normally mean what ever was left from the day. We were served fresh hot food that was delicious and well seasoned. The ribs were tender and pulled from the bone with a gentle tug, just as they should be. The chicken had the greatest flavor. They are not the full leg but that tastey part of the wing that resembles the drumstick. Sooooo good. The catfish is was perfectly cooked. Moist and flakey on the inside while a light crunch outside. The menu says cajun catfish but this was not spicey, just the best mouthwatering flavor. The sweet potatoes were just like we have at Thanksgiving. The mac-n-cheese had this perfect texture and flavor. Most places cook the pasta till it is mush and you taste canned cheese but this tasted hand made to me. The cornbread muffins were to good to be true. They were moist and light. You usually get dry gritty cornbread that you have to choke down at other restaurants. This is the only place I order cornbread. There was so much food none of us, except my teenage grandson and brother , were able to eat it all. We all walked out with doggie bags. Thurm was a wonderful host and owner. He made us feel soooo welcome and did everything he could to make our dinning a great experience. Thank you Thurm for a great meal and treating us like we are special and important to you. We will be back, many times.
A friend and I walked in the door and I instantly say old food on at least 5 tables,I should of ran then.After bringing this to who I assume was the owner’s attention I was offered a Rag to wipe the table myself. Then Uncle Thurm attempted to flirt with my friend and I which resulted in an epic fail. Oh wait there’s more after seating our selves we both choose what was called UNCLE THURMS MELODY. Now keep in mind that they advertise SOUL FOOD…. Canned Greens, sweet potatoes mixed with White potatoe, in order to Strechhhh them, RAW ASS CHICKEN WINGETS I’n stead of real Chicken wings,The BBQ Ribs was cooked so long I thought I was chewing on shoe leather. Need I go on If they are the Best BBQ in town that’s because you consumed it under the influence of what they call drinks after you pay 5.00 at the door, common uncle thurms the truth is you are the WORST BBQ in town…. EAT YOUR OWN RISK
Poor customer service here. Business does not have a good greeting staff. My date and I waited 40 min before we were waited on and the guest who came in after us received their meal before us. When we told Mr. Thurman the owner about this discrepancy he got real hostile and wanted to kick us out of the store using foul language. 8 could not believe this was the same man. He was very rude and nasty.
Hidden gem for sure. I lived in lower Alabama for two years and just recently moved here. This place definitely fulfilled my southern soul food fix! I was delicious. Service was a little slow, but the inviting atmosphere and food made me completely forget about it. I’ll definitely be going back again!
