ClaimJumper used to be one of ourgo-to places, back when they had a menu that read like War andPeace, and featured great entrees like Whiskey Apple Glazed PorkLoin, Jambalya (with rice, as it should be), and other wonderfulchoices. The current menu is little more than Applbee’s, but withhigher prices. We visited on a Sunday at 1:00pm andwere seated promptly. Without asking, the hostess assumed we werethere for their Sunday brunch, and so did not provide menus. Ourserver was running around non-stop, but slowed down long enough totell us that we could just go ahead and begin with the bruch, if weso chose (we didn’t). We sat at our table for what seemed like tenminutes before she reappeared with pad in hand, ready to take ourorder, and only then realized Oh, you don’t have menus… Menues were provided, choices made and order placed. The server returned with bread andwater, then the soup course, followed by the entrees (Chicken FriedChicken and Chicken Pot Pie, both $16.99 each). The CFC waspassable, served with standard restaurant mashed potatoes and gravy. The CPP was extremely salty, to the point where I could not finishit. To the server’s credit, she did leave a carafe of water on thetable for us to refill our glasses.I looked at the $37 bill, and felt likewe could have dined better elsewhere for less. The restaurantbusiness is intensely competitive, and you usually don’t get a secondchance to make a first impression. CJ, we gave you a second chance. There won’t be a third.
