An extraordinary meal start to finish. As it happened, we dined during happy hour…service on cocktails was a tad slow, but we didn’t mind — enjoyed our front table view on the world in this quirky neighborhood. We shared a clam appetizer, fantastic oysters on the half shell on a beautiful slab of ice, a halibut special that my husband still talks about, and coffee and dessert — which we never do — but everything had such a good vibe that it all just flowed. Wine by the glass a tad pricey, but I’d return for a special meal again.
I went to Frank’s for Sunday brunch this past week with a friend. We sat outside on their patio (about 6 tables, the view is nothing spectacular though) and had a great time. One of the reasons we chose this place is because they serve bottomless mimosas (hey hey!). Our server was very attentive and in high spirits like ourselves (nice weather can be contagious). We shared a bunch of items including a half dozen oysters, the orange scented zeppole donuts with mascarpone and berry coulis, house-made granola and yogurt, and the Frank’s Madame. Everything was solid, and I’m not quite sure how we finished it all. I’d say the highlight was the zeppole, they are made to order and so so fresh.Positives: Many bubbly drinks, yummy espresso, high quality food.Negatives: If you sit outside there is very little shade underneath the awning, so beware! We were roasting since it was 80+ degrees and sunny out. This is a side note:I feel like almost every Seattle brunch spot has the same items on their menus, so maybe more variety would be nice.
Perfect Stop after Shopping at UVillage. My husband and I have stopped into Frank’s several times for happy hour. The interior is a little dark and the seats are not super comfortable in the bar area, but the bar staff is attentive and knowledgable. My favorite dish is the goat cheese deviled eggs. They are light and tangy and feel like a summer picnic. I also recommend the sparkling house wine they on special during happy hour. It is a rare treat to find sparkling on a happy hour menu. I love finding good little restaurants off the beaten path – and Frank’s is worth stopping in.
