Better than any other local buffet . . .That’s not saying much, though, when the others are Old Country, Wonderful, and Super (to be fair, I haven’t tried the one at Nooksack River Casino). Is there such a thing as a good casino buffet outside of Vegas? This is a fairly typical buffet, leaning toward the bland. Salad bar: typical limp iceberg choice, but there was a mixed greens choice, though it was mostly just leafy green, no red lettuce, and some spinach. Various dull looking veggies and condiments. There was one decent pasta salad, and a Greek salad that’s best part was the feta cheese.The salmon was a little dry, which may’ve been because it was toward the end of the day and this was close to the last of it, but it was pretty flavorless, too. I actually wondered if it was wildcatch, which would seem a no-brainer for a restaurant & casino run by a tribe of fishermen, but maybe not? Maybe the good stuff is saved for selling outside the casino? Either way, I didn’t go back for seconds on the salmon, which is unheard of, since salmon is one of my favorite foods. There were other meats (ones I can’t eat), and soups and fillers, but, First Rule of Buffet, Go for the Good Stuff: ignore fillers like bread and meatloaf and rice. The service was very good, however! I had to ask to be reseated in the back, as far away from the choking smoke of the gaming floor as possible, and my server back there was a friendly, prompt, considerate fellow, with a quiet humor. He was efficient, friendly, and knew the menus by memory.
