A couple of years ago we went here for a get together with former classmates of Columbia High School. It was a good place to unwind. Although as the night went on it was a little hard to hear. But, that isn’t their fault. The food was good, and the beer was too. They were happy to accommodate about 15 of us at short notice.

Love this place, and not just because it’s right up the road from us! The service is friendly, the food is consistently good, and the beer keeps getting better and better. Favorites are the grilled veggie sandwich, the greens with gorgonzola dressing, and the sweet potato burrito (which you can also order in a bowl instead of wrapped in a tortilla). Did I mention the awesome owners/brewers and the free live music almost every weekend? Definitely a favorite.

Our Family dined here twice this weekend – a lunch and a dinner. Crowded on Sat nite! The sole beer I tried was their brown ale. Not a good brew by any stds – an off taste that lacked any body – sort of a dark Coors (sorry guys… 🙁 ). Meals are okay, perhaps on par with your std pub fare you would get in Portland. The place is very dimly lit, to the point where I could barely read the menu. It is really the only game in town for a pub, so unless heading to Bingen (Solstice) or across the river, this is it.

Something for Everybody. As home brewers, we love to taste the regional brews of any location in which we visit. We had an early lunch here while exploring the gorge area a couple of weeks ago, mostly to sample their brews. We both prefer brews that are flavorful without being bitter, and we both found pleasing examples to enjoy. We also ate lunch while there. Frankly, I don’t recall what Lara ordered, because my entree was knocking my socks off and holding my attention hostage. The dish that captured me was a burrito unlike any other. It had lime rice, cubed sweet potato, black beans, and a tasty salsa with just enough cumin and cilantro to adorn but not assault the flavors within. I adored this one!Decor was pleasant, area was spacious, brew list was good, service was excellent. This place is one to which we will return next time we go north.
