Food Suck, we had a server Lisa that was Very pleasant..Lisa was our server upon request are original server was so rude that we almost walked out…when we asked her for a drink,her response was I can it’s not like I’m busy she had 3 tables…also when my appetizer arrived she didn’t bring any condiments so I asked for some cocktails, she brought me a frozen cup.. I know when the food arrived the fish tasted like a fish stick the hamburgers or nothing to brag or anything they are thick but very dry..the shrimp was okay and they have the best fried portabella mushrooms around.. The ceiling leaks everywhere it is just quite dirty I will not be returning
The atmosphere is as expected for a pub style restaurant. The food was mediocre at a decent price. Service was absolutely horrible!! Not worth coming back for. It’s a shame because the place it’s self has potential to be a cool hang out pub. Due to the service though it brings its value way down.
Sept 2012 Lunch. Five of us went to the Polo Club and we had 4 burgers and a philly cheese steak. One burger (mine) was ordered ‘medium’ all the others wanted well. Two had ‘buffalo burgers and complained that they were dry and not very flavorful (they expected them to be more saucy, not just marinated). If you want that, be sure to ask for a side of buffalo sauce. One had the ‘mountaineer’ burger — an open-faced burger with chili and jalapenos smothering it. That diner loved it and would order it again exactly as it came. The Philly was cheesy-messy and very juicy-messy. That diner enjoyed his sandwich but said he would order something neater next time so he didn’t have to worry about wearing it the rest of the day.I had a classic burger with extra cheese ordered medium with grilled onions. The burger was cooked almost to well done. It did have a hint of pinkish brown but it was almost dry. There is that hint of smoke you get from it being cooked over wood that really adds flavor. There were enough onions and they were well griiled — soft and juicy. The kaiser roll buns are grilled with butter and add to the flavor profile nicely. I’d order it again too but really wish they would cook these to medium doneness as requested — I understand biology and am will to accept the risk. I may ask for it medium rare next time just so they hit medium. The only place doneness doesn’t matter to me is at the NET — their burgers are juicy even cooked well. And the flavor from being cooked on a hundred year aged flat top is second to none. While I rate the netburger higher than my PoloClub burger it’s not a runaway. In fact, I think if it had been cooked correctly, it would have garnered my top pick for Parkersburg’s best burger.4 stars out of 5
Great Atmosphere. I’m from Pennsylvania and travel to WV every once in a while. For four years I have been visiting Parkersburg, WV, and I make sure I stop at the Polo Club EVERY time I visit. The waitresses are beautiful and so friendly, the food is AWESOME, and there is the mascot – this guy named CHET. He is so funny and welcoming. The Polo Club is a must stop if your coming through Parkersburg, WV.
32 oz ribeye is totally worth the challenge. Good wood flavor and 1/2 price on Thurs. $10 buckets of Yuengling help wash it down.
Polo Club. Not bad…Not great…but over priced
Comfortable, Fun, and Filling. I was very impressed the first time I entered the restaurant. I immediately felt comfortable and at ease here, just a cool relaxed atmosphere.The drinks are cold and the food hot and savory. Don’t pass up the opportunity to grab some really good grub and have some fun.
