the seafood is good, but not awesome. It seems a bit overpriced. But it is understandable for the distance from the ocean. The wait staff is friendly and the tea is good. Dress nicely when eating here.
Best seafood place probably in this state! Reminds me of being back home in Eastern NC. Many fresh caught specials as well as calabash style offerings.
This place is a hidden gem in Huntington! Seriously, I have never had anything bad from here, seafood is actually fresh, which is rare for this area. I have had a better poboy here than from some places in NOLA. Price and food on point.
Love it…. Years ago I used to buy Cajun alligator sausage here that rocked. (I made killer ramp-alligator spaghetti with it.) It is no longer available, but you won’t find a better selection of seafood for grocery shopping or dining. I love it!
The decor is nothing fancy, but the food is good.15 Mar, 2014I have eaten at LJS and Captain D’s – neither is a real seafood restaurant. Jewel City is the real deal. The food is always fresh and tasty. The staff is very friendly.
Fresh Seafood. I remember when this place was not much more than a seafood counter and a couple tables. They got so popular they had to move and expand. The staff is a little slow and disoriented, but the food makes up for the lack of organization and staff. I don’t eat meat anymore, but my husband and family love to go here. I give two thumbs up to their stuffed mushrooms and lobster bisque! Yum!
Absolutely Disgusting. Probably the most regrettable $15 I’ve ever spent on food. I don’t even know where to start. The whitefish was soggy and slimy. The shrimp tasted as if it had been soaked in some sort of chemical for hours. The hushpuppies were dry and hard. I thought the saving grace of the meal would be the french fries, but I tasted one that had the most vial aftertaste (again, like chemicals of some sort). Gross, gross, GROSS!!!!!!!
