Neighborhood bar. This is a little neighborhood bar, divey atmosphere, but warm bartenders and people inside. I used to avoid this place, except once in a while to see a band I liked if performing there. Over the past year, they have greatly improved their beer selection, shifting more of their taps to tasty, local craft beers! I now go there much more often. Don’t worry Bud drinkers, you can still get basic lagers, so you haven’t been left out. They keep things simple. Hot dogs are the only hot food, and otherwise just packaged chips and nuts are available. And they only serve beer, no wine or mixed drinks. It keeps things simple and efficient. Note there is no table service. This is similar to a British pub where everyone goes to the bar to order, and tables are just the place to set your glasses down.

An INSTITUTION in Morgantown. Been here forever. An old town tavern that holds lots of youthful memories. Fun place. Street side parking.
Gene`s hotdogs. It has been several years since i have had a hotdog from gene`s. new ownership,al bonner,i have known him for quite a few years.good fellow.great hotdogs.
Very friendly staff, very cheap.. $1.75 gets a loaded hotdog (chilli,cheese,slaw), and all domestic beer is $1.25 during happy hour (5-7 I believe), $2 otherwise, guiness is $3.25, all 16 oz. Drafts, a rack full of chips all $1, chico’s bakery pepperoni rolls(try with chilli and cheese trust me), good atmosphere good people!
A stalwart. My father went to Gene’s when he was in high school, and I’ve been going there for 40 years. One of the best places in town for hot dogs. Also, try their pepperoni rolls, as they split them open, add sauce and cheese. Gene’s is one of THE places for locals in Morgantown.
Really happening on weekends, super chill on weekdays. Hot Dogs!
