This restaurant used to be one of the best places to eat in Charleston. The food has changed or the way they cook. Everything is bland and tasteless. The prices are astronomical for a little joint on the side of the road. Nephew wanted bacon on his burger and the server says it’s 4 dollars for 2 straps of bacon I can buy a pound of bacon for 7 dollars HIGHWAY ROBBERY. And the other only dessert that’s good is the chocolate cake if they have any. I for myself will never go there to eat again.
I love WV and WV home style food. This is one of the wort experience I have ever had. I had a waitress named Angela, she was the awful and she should look into other employment. The food was awful. I had baked apples with peels on them, that was horrendous. The bake steak and gravy tasted like a TV dinner we had when I was kid. The management was bad and discourteous. The other servers tried to help the situation, to them I hope they go somewhere else to work, because I can only think their jobs must be miserable. The food, decor, and employment is awful. We had one good employee who wasn’t even our waitress who checked on us. I would not recommend this place what so ever. The homemade pie, is by no means homemade, it taste store bought. The bake steak is deplorable, and the kitchen staff was loud and noisy during our dinner. I feel that it was a risk to my life eating here, and did not finish my dinner nor did my husband. He was outraged. We paid the bill, and left a tip, fearing the worst for these servers who work here. BY ALL MEANS please do not waste your money at this awful place, the management is deplorable and the only thing good at this dirty restaurant is the servers who seem to work hard. That being said you saw bullies including our server Angela. the worst of it all is we were told we would get award winning pies, that tasted like frozen pies tossed in the microwave. I tried to talk to management but I was given some weird toothed savage who said she owned the restaurant and was not courteous or had no customer service skills what so ever. Do NOT eat here. The worst of the place was the dusty memorabilia that you had to worry was going to disintegrate in the awful food was served. Please if you listen to anything, there are many great restaurants in West Virginia but Deihls are not one of them. Avoid at all cost. Go a few miles down the road to Charleston and find better restaurants, we did.
Food was bland. As a child my grandparents and I ate here often as I got older it was not so often to eventually not at all for a while until yesterday. My boyfriend our son and my self drove there to eat after church. We were seated as soon as we arrived. We ordered food for ourselves and fed our little one off of our plates for the 3 of us to eat it cost us 39.55 for a 4.00 hamburger 11.00 plate of baked steak 2 drinks and 2 slices of pie! The food arrived in a reasonable amount of time but was very tasteless! I do believe we were way over charged for our food! Never eating here again!
Really gone downhill. Once upon a time it was a good family restaurant. Now the servers are rude, preocupied and sit there and eat at the counter while on shift. The food was cold, we sat for a half hour and never saw our server again. I feel sorry for the owners…their employees are ruining it
Bad Service. I have been a long time customer at Diehl’s but doubt I will return. I sat up front, waited for someone to atleast say Hi to me, it took 10 minuates, then after I get my food no waitress came back to check on me, sat there with no refill, no bread which came with my food and no check, had to get that at the register. I know for a fact that this waitress is related to the Diehl’s, that must make you an automatic server because anywhere else you would be fired, you are the worst waitress that I have ever seen, will not return.
Great place!. The atmosphere was really unique. It was like stepping backi in time and I loved the homemade dressing.
Surprisingly good. Although they need fix up the dinning room the tables were old,outdated and a mix of different styles they could at lease put table cloths on them. But have to say the food was delicious. Prices was OK although some were pricey, yet some were cheap.
