  Stopped here tonight for dinner with our son, a Lawrence University student. Had garlic chicken and General Tso’s chicken. Both were tasty, hot and fresh. The restaurant itself has ample seating and it is clean and fresh looking compared with other small Chinese places. They were very busy but our food came in a reasonable amount of time. They have a special menu for Lawrence students.

  Best Ragoons in Appleton. Remember when Chef Chu’s was around downtown? They had the best crab ragoons, and now that the place is Dong Po… it’s not the same.I’ve spent the last few years trying to find a crab ragoon of similar perfection…Hunan 1 has them.I wish they came in an even number (7) because we fight over the last one and then end up breaking it into messy halves.My favorite entree is beef and snow peas. I hate mushrooms and bamboo, they will make this without those things for me. They carrots are crisp, the peas steamed to a beautiful green from the wok and sauce.The seasame chicken is also so good! It beats anything else. Plus, it comes with only a few little garnishs of brocholli, something I dislike. Most other places give you a little chicken on a bed of green trees. They give you a heap of crispy sweet coated chicken with four pieces trimming the corners.We also regularly order Lo Mein. It’s also the best in town.The place seems a little run down inside, but the food is something special. A Lawrence kid will deliver in a hurry, otherwise get take out. The food is so hot, it will still be steaming when you get home.Treat yourself to delivery. Order your food, pop a movie in your player and wait for the doorbell. You’ll be happy you did!
